Margaret Simpson

Margaret is our multi-talented accompanist.

At 13 Margaret was the assistant organist of St Mary's RC Priory Church in Warrington where she accompanied and sang in performances with choristers of Ampleforth Abbey.

Margaret was an organ pupil of Leo Davies and later Derek Cantrell.

At 16 Margaret received piano lessons from Professor Derek Wyndham (RNCM) and gave her first public performance accompanying her school choir (Loreto Convent Grammar School) at the Free Trade Hall in Manchester (now Bridgewater Hall).

Margaret also accompanied other local choirs in the Altrincham/Bowdon and Hale areas.

At 18 she studied piano with Malcolm Wilson, and organ with David Saint, as a joint 1st study at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

After a long and successful music teaching career in Birmingham, Warwickshire, Staffordshire and Argyll and Bute, Margaret decided to pursue a career as a professional accompanist.

Margaret is an accompanist for the Birmingham Music Service and for the Good Company Singers in Lichfield.

As an organist, Margaret’s previous posts include St Columba's RC Cathedral, Oban and organist and choirmaster of St Mary and St Chad's Brewood .

Margaret currently shares the post as organist with Michael Davey at St Nicholas Church, Newport, Shropshire.

As an accomplished organist, Margaret is in demand and will be giving lunchtime organ recitals in 2018 at All Saints West Bromwich, URC Church Sutton Coldfield and All Saints Sedgley.

Margaret is presently pursuing a career as a professional piano duetist with Nykko Gregoire (Conservatoire de Paris) and will be giving her first recital this summer at Madeley Parish Church.
